Biography

Alessandro Gagaridis is a research fellow on the Indian Subcontinent and India’s Action Abroad at the Centre for Security and Defence Studies (CSDS). Between 2018 and 2020, Alessandro was a regular contributor to Geopolitical Monitor, with an emphasis on international security and defence in the Indo-Pacific and other regions. From 2020 to 2021, Alessandro was Team Leader of the Indo-Pacific (PACOM) Team at The Counterterrorism Group, where he was responsible for coordinating research and analysis on the geopolitical and security dynamics of the region. Between 2023 and 2024, he worked as an analyst at Cronos Europa, focusing on using open-source intelligence techniques to track, investigate and analyse online activities in the context of an institutional project.
Alessandro holds a BA in political science and international relations from the University of Parma (Italy), as well as an MA in international relations with a focus on diplomacy and conflict resolution from the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium). In 2019-2020, he completed a Blue Book Traineeship within the European Commission’s counter-terrorism unit, participating in the work on policies to counter the malicious use of UASs. Still in 2020, he obtained a Political Risk Analyst certificate from the Istituto Affari Internazionali (International Affairs Institute, IAI), Rome, and a certificate in open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis from the think tank Intelligence Fusion. He joined the CSDS in January 2025.
