The 10th and last seminar of the High Studies for Security and Defence (HSSD) took place on 24 and 25 July. Friday was devoted to a couple of topics that had not previously been discussed, such as geo-economics, the Belgian defence industry and the Arctic, as well as the global evaluation of this 16th session, which had to be spread over two academic years due to Covid-19. On Friday evening, the auditors organised a magnificent dinner with their spouses or partners at the Egmont Palace.
The final session was held on Saturday in the presence of military and civil authorities, HSSD alumni, the auditors of the 16th session and their spouses or partners. Erik Bruyland, author of the book Cobalt blues, shared his analysis on why we lost control over essential/crucial minerals. The auditors were then formally presented their HSSD certificate before ending their 4th cycle in style with a beautiful reception at Renaissance campus.
