Navigating in a constantly shifting geopolitical climate, the European Union is increasingly emerging as a relevant security and defence actor for its citizens. Aligning itself with established EU policies, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU (BE EU Presidency) aims to pursue initiatives that will strengthen the EU’s ability to take up its role as a global security actor within the framework of the Common Foreign Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
In the domain of military mobility, the BE EU Presidency organises a seminar on dual use capabilities. The main objective is to discuss the progress and challenges met in the implementation of the military mobility objectives formulated in the EU’s Strategic Compass, as further elaborated in the Action Plan on Military Mobility 2.0. The intended outcome is to contribute to Council Conclusions by formulating recommendations in four domains: dual use infrastructures, procedures and requirements related to intra-EU movements of military equipment, funding, and cyber resilience.
